Webinar: Extended Producer Responsibility: A View From the States

Online / On24
Wednesday, September 17, 2025 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM   iCalendar Eastern Standard Time

One of the fastest evolving toolsets to tackle plastic pollution are extended producer responsibility (EPR) initiatives. These policies assign producers greater responsibility for the end-of-life management of the products they introduce to the market. In the US, a handful of states have implemented EPR programs addressing plastic and packaging waste for consumer goods, and more state programs are under consideration in 2025. With noncompliance fines in the tens of thousands of dollars range and reporting requirements beginning for some state EPR programs as early as March 2025, EPR has never been a more pressing issue.

This panel will outline the current landscape of state-based EPR legislation in the United States. In addition, this discussion will cover practical guidance for personal care companies to understand their risks and liability, as well as best practices, under these new laws.
